Sahel EDU

Privacy policy of the Sahel EDU app

Updated on 4 November 2026

1. Who does what

The Sahel EDU app (com.sahelavenir.edu) is published by SAHEL AVENIR SARL (RCCM RCCM RC/NGA/2026/B/90, Ngaoundéré), which provides the Sahel EDU platform to each school.

For the school’s registers (students, marks, attendance, fees), the school is the data controller. SAHEL AVENIR SARL acts as a service provider: it hosts and secures this data and does not use it for its own purposes.

For the operation of the app (linked phone, notification signals, security), SAHEL AVENIR SARL is the data controller.

2. Who the app is for

Parents and guardians, teachers, staff and students aged 13 and over. Information about younger children is entered by the school and viewed by their family.

No advertising, no tracking from one site to another.

3. How to get an account

The account is issued by the school. The app creates no account: it links your phone to an existing account, after you sign in on the secure website.

4. Data processed

  • Account identity: name, identifier, role, language.
  • School data displayed: attendance and lateness, messages from the school, timetable, receipts and due dates, report cards (once published by the school). They are read from the school’s registers and shown only to the authorised person.
  • Phone data: model, Android and app versions, last activity, notification address (stored encrypted).
  • Security: sign-in logs, app integrity check by Google Play, revocable device token.
  • Offline copy on the phone: the last viewing, encrypted, kept for 7 days at most and erased at sign-out.

Not collected: location, contacts, phone photos, microphone, advertising ID, biometric data. The fingerprint is used only to unlock the app on the phone and never leaves it.

5. Notifications

Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) delivers a signal that contains no personal data: a type and a meaningless identifier. The text is fetched by the app from our servers.

On the lock screen, the content can be hidden. Each person sets the categories, sound and vibration, and can turn everything off.

6. Sharing

No sale, no advertising use. Technical providers: the platform host; Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging, Play Integrity). Data is disclosed to an authority only where the law requires it.

7. Retention and removing this phone

Accounts and school registers are never deleted by the app: they are registers kept by the school.

Removing this phone: you can do it at any time in the app (Settings, “Sign out”). The phone’s token, its notification address and the offline copy are then removed.

Changing your password removes all phones from the account. Technical logs are kept for security for a limited time.

If you no longer have the phone, write to contact@sahelavenir.com: we will remove it from your account.

8. Your rights

Access, rectification, objection and, where the law allows, erasure or anonymisation: contact the school, which is responsible for your data. For any question about the app: contact@sahelavenir.com.

9. Security

Sign-in through the secure website, mandatory two-factor authentication for school management, encrypted exchanges, revocable device token, app integrity check, encrypted offline copy.

The app contains no calculation rules: averages, ranks and permissions are computed on our servers.

10. Changes and contact
